The ViewBradford Review
Bambooza sits on the tackier end of the scale, but it's not ashamed of it. This disco party bar plays cheese to a crowd who are too out-of-it to really care.
The Venue
Bambooza is a big, unashamed party warehouse. Flashing yellow and red lights are stuck in the ceiling alongside spinning mirrored disco balls. There are large ridged glass lamps in the cream ceiling too, as well as three large plasma screens.
The wood-panelled bar runs along the length of the far wall. But this really is just a big open wooden floored area, only broken up by a few white pillars, and there are booth seating areas around the sides and front.
It doesn’t open till the evening, at around 8.30pm — so don’t try coming here in the day — and it closes at 1am on Friday and Saturday.
The People
Smart casual is the theme and it looks like the place has been sponsored by Top Shop.
Leering guys and slap-smothered girls make up the majority of the crowd who, fuelled by alcopops, merrily dance the night away clinging to each other in a great shambling mass of celebration and commiseration.
The Food and Drink
You’ve got Fosters, Kronenbourg, Carling, Stella, Tetleys, Guinness and Strongbow on draught. And in bottles there’s, Magners, Beck’s, Budweiser, Corona, Sol and Fosters.
They’ve got, naturally, the full complement of Smirnoff Ices and WKDs — and look out for two-for-one (and even three-for-one) deals in the week. There’s no food.
The Last Word
To enjoy Bambooza you have to indulge in a few of their drink deals, and be prepared to sway along with the rabble who've washed up here.
