A relatively small Revolution on a traffic island where you can sit on the terrace outside and view the scene below with an air of superiority.

The Venue
Opposite a pizza parlour and a Wetherspoons pub, this particular Revolution, while not as grand as some of its other sites, has still got the distinctive look of a smart cocktail bar.

The focal point is the bright, shiny chrome-topped, curved bar and there’s a DJ booth in the corner and big open space for standing, drinking and dancing.

The walls are either covered with sleek, shiny black tiles or with funky, flowery silver and brown wallpaper. Seating is on raised-up red leather banquettes and at a section of low, padded brown stools and cocktail tables.

Upstairs is a plush lounge bar complete with red velvet and chandeliers, while the good-sized outside terrace lets you look over all the action happening below.

The People
It’s predominantly a young, professional crowd who are drawn to Revolution for a cocktail. It’s quieter in the week, but does come alive on the weekends when it’s part of the West End circuit.

It’s over 21s only, so you don't have to witness any exploratory journeys into the world of alcohol by the uninitiated. Instead, Revolution serves up sophisticated drinks to a group who at least like to think they know how to handle their booze.

The Food and Drink
Carlsberg, Strongbow, Guinness, Fosters, Carling, Boddington’s, Stella, Staropramen and Kronenbourg are all on tap and in bottles you’ve got Sol, Stella, Beck’s and Bulmers.

There are lots of cocktails for around £4.75, such as a Sweet Fruit Caipirosca, which is made of pear, passion fruit and raspberry muddled with fresh lime and sugar.

And, being a vodka bar, you’ve got blends such as Starburst which is Grey Goose orange vodka mixed with fresh limes, brown sugar, cranberry juice and Red Bull (£4.95). Pitchers cost around £13.50.

There’s a new food menu which features dishes such as a cheeseburger (£6.50), a yellow-fin tuna steak salad for £7.95 and a Mexican chicken wrap for £5.50. And it’s £3.75 for a lemon tart.

The Last Word
An elegant island in the midst of cheap booziness, Revolution sits pretty, but is perhaps just too posh for these parts.
